Sheep May Safely Graze by Johann Sebastian Bach

Description	This is a gorgeous work by the master. It is one of my favorite Bach arrangements as well - so useful for a variety of occasions, especially weddings, for processional, signing of registrar, or communion. The full-orchestra score has been skillfully brought into a string quartet setting without harming any of the texture and lines of the original. This arrangement has also been scored to work adequately with only the 2 violins and cello, in the event you are missing a violist. You will use it over and over, I guarantee it!

Brandenburg Concerto #2 - 1st Movement by J.S. Bach

Description	This is the joyous, first movement of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #2, in a very full and pleasing string quartet format. It is a lengthy piece, with each part at 3 pages of tightly scored music. It is also quite challenging all around, if played up to tempo, so definitely not a piece for beginner quartets. Highly useful for a variety of occasions, including the 'Prelude Music' or even 'Recessional' for weddings, because of it's 'fanfare' nature. Parts are full and rich - can even work quite adequately as a trio with 2 violins and cello, if the violist is not present. This is one of the Brandenbergs you don't often find for string quartet. A great addition to your book!

Description	This is the opening movement of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #5, in a very pleasant string quartet format. Highly useful for a variety of occasions, including the 'Recessional' for weddings, because of its 'fanfare' character. Parts are full and rich - can even work quite adequately as a trio with 2 violins and cello, if the violist is not present. A nice addition to any quartet books!

Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by J.S. Bach

Description	A classic melody and extremely useful number to have in your library. This works very well for the string quartet setting also, with the warm string sound. This is a practical number for weddings - including processional and signing of the registrar - as well as a variety of religious occasions, and/or background music. This is one of those "must have" pieces.

Air On The G String by J.S. Bach

Description	This is another of the "greatest hits of all time" for strings, recognized and requested the world over. My arrangement of this has a 'cue' line on every part, so that all players have either the Violin 1 or the Cello part above their own, to make for smooth readings with no mishaps. As a BONUS for purchasing this arrangement, you will also receive the VIOLIN DUO version I have created - basically the Violin 2 (or Viola in Treble clef if you like) plays the cello part, transcribed up an octave, with numerous bars re-arranged to accommodate the lack of a C-string. Kanon in D (known as "PACHELBEL'S CANON") by Johann Pachelbel

Description	This has got to be the most requested piece of wedding music of all time - hands down. If you don't have a good copy of this piece in your books already, this one is recently re-scored, including the 'pizzicato' accompianment in the opening two bars. These parts are beautiful now - very readable. The VIOLA part is printed in the Treble Clef for the main melody so you are not reading too many ledger lines. It can also, thus, be played for three violins if necessary. You will use it over and over, I guarantee it!

Pastoral from "The Messiah" by Georg Frederic Handel

Description	This is a very pleasing arrangement of G. F. Handel's "Pastoral" movement (#13) from The Messiah, for string quartet (2 Violins, Viola, Cello). This is music that is definitely seasonal, but useful for many other occasions as well. The score is laid out very professionally with the best notation software on the market and is sure to please even the most discerning musicians in its playability and readability. With over 20 years in the music business as a classical player, and also including working with some of the biggest names in the pop industry as professional arranger, I can assure you that these charts are well thought out and meticulously completed, down to cues, bowings, articulations, dynamics, etc.

Largo from Xerxes by Georg Frederic Handel

Description	This is a standard of the classical repertoire - still being used frequently as a wedding processional (even the Queen of England walked down the aisle to this one!) It is a grand, stately piece, useful for many different occasions. This arrangement preserves all the rich harmonies of the full score, and is a satisfying, warm sound for the string quartet. Make sure your books include this widely popular piece!

Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Georg Frederic Handel

Description	This is a widely requested 'anthem' or celebratory piece by G. F. Handel. It works very well as a string quartet in this arrangement, and has been often used as a recessional piece for weddings. It can be quite spectacular if played at the original fast tempo. Insert it in a concert once in a while for some variety! This is a fine addition to any quartet's gig-book. The arrangement is rich and scored with precision for easy reading.

Water Music : Finale by Georg Frederic Handel

Description	This is the majestic closing movement of Handel's Water Music Suite. It works brilliantly for string quartet, and is a versatile piece for many applications. I've played it on many occasions as a recessional for weddings, or a 'fanfare' piece for occasions requiring that atmosphere. Cues are indicated in the Violin 1 and Violin 2 part such that it can be played without the viola part if absolutely necessary.

The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi

Description	This is a collection of 4 movements of Vivaldi's famous "Four Seasons" work for solo violin and orchestra - arranged for string quartet. It is: all 3 movements from Spring, PLUS a bonus section from Winter - the beautiful slow movement. The first and third movements of Spring are ideal for Weddings (recessional) and a variety of other occasions. The second movement is included to round out the work for performance, with the Viola and Cello sharing the solo. The first movement of Spring contains a rather virtuoso solo passage for Violin 1, so I've included an 'alternate' line above, for these bars, in the event the first violinist is not quite ready for this passage. The slow movement from Winter, useful for wedding Processionals, has a charming 'pizzicato' accompaniment in the 2nd Violin and Viola. This arrangement is larger than usual - 6 pages for each part - a very good value. It took many hours to notate, clean up articulations, and do a workable 'layout'. It is printed 'double-sided' so that page turns are manageable. This work is one of those frequently requested pieces, and a gem to have in your books!

Concerto in G by Antonio Vivaldi

Description	This is another wonderful concerto from Antonio Vivaldi, filled with much of the same energy as movements from the "Four Seasons". It can be used very effectively as a recessional (and has been requested as such for my own quartet). It is nice to have a variety of works from this composer for your books. This one is a very pleasant arrangement.

Salut d'Amour by Edward Elgar

Description	This is a truly gorgeous piece of music from the esteemed English composer. In fact it was chosen by my wife as the processional music for our own wedding. It is also the title music for a CD we recorded recently, of all violin and piano 'encore' pieces. I've played Salut d'Amour for years as a violin and piano duo piece, and finally got around to setting it for quartet. There is plenty of interest for each of the 4 parts, here, but certainly not too difficult for a variety of levels. I know you'll get much use and pleasure out of this one, should you add it to your books!

Wedding March from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn

Description	If you're tired of having your quartet read off of a piano score, or simply don't have a good copy of this piece in your books - now is definitely the time to add it! Obviously this is the most played wedding recessional number of all time. This arrangement is well scored; with each part also containing a small-staff of the 1st Violin part above it, to reduce the likelihood of any mishaps when reading at a wedding ceremony. The 1st Violin also has a cello line under it. This can save a lot of grief if there is a new or substitute player joining the group for a gig, helping to make sure that everyone stays in the same place. Optional double-stops in the violin part make it fun for all levels. Specially priced as well!

Pavane by Gabriel Fauré

Description	This is one of the great haunting melodies of the classical repertoire. It is hugely popular still and widely requested. This arrangement will be sure to please, with rich harmonies and well thought-out dynamic indications. Flower Duet by Léo Delibes

Description	This is a beautiful melody, made even more popular by the famous "British Airways" commercial. You'll recognize it immediately. In this arrangement, I've included a very nice 8 bar intro, mostly from material in the opera. As well, I've included the little "waltz-like" interlude which comes after the main melody, followed by a D.S., back to the main tune again. This piece is becoming a popular choice for weddings and other events now. Make sure you have it in your books.

Londonderry Air (O Danny Boy) Traditional

Description	This very famous Irish melody, known as "Londonderry Air" or "O Danny Boy" is a widely requested 'standard' which will enhance your music collection greatly. I've done a completely original setting for it in this arrangement, setting it up with a very calm 4-bar intro before the melody comes in. The violin plays it through once, followed by a break, similar to the intro, then the cello starts the melody for the 'second verse', with a completely different type of accompaniment in the upper 3 strings. Scarborough Fair Traditional

Description	This is one of my favorite arrangements, and I hope it will become on of yours. This timeless folk-song, made famous by the likes of Simon & Garfunkle, makes for a very punchy string quartet number. The melody is passed around between violins and cello, each time with a slightly different accompaniment in the other 3 instruments. It has a very effective intro, as well, to 'set the stage' for the main theme to come in. For intermediate to advanced players. Take a listen to it.

Memorial for 2 Violins by Brian Larson

Description	This is a very heart-felt composition: when a young colleague of mine in the orchestra lost her mother quite unexpectedly, I felt compelled to write this piece for 2 violins. Dedicated to her family, it is a very peaceful expression with a small hint of celtic influences. It received its first public performance in a very suitable setting - on an Oct. 1, 2001 concert by musicians of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra to benefit the Red Cross Sept. 11 relief fund. I was asked if we could finish off the concert with this piece, where it was very warmly received. It works perfectly well, also as a duo for VIOLIN & VIOLA, and I recently rearranged it for VIOLIN & CELLO.
